Yes. I bought an LG Blu-Ray player for my parents two years ago that plays media files from USB drives, recordable DVDs and BD-R media. It is likely that there are players from other makers which have good MKV support too. However no Blu-Ray player can cope with every feature supported by the MKV container or every type of audio and video allowed by MKV. The manual should provide information about what is and is not supported, and whether MKV subtitles must be external or internal.

I did specifically mention LG in my post. Beyond that, I'm not in a good position to shop for you, since I'm in the USA. The list of Blu-Ray player models available can vary by country.

If nobody from the EU has a suggestion for you, find an LG player with other features you want. Go to the LG website applicable to your country. You will likely find link where you can download a PDF version of the manual at the model's product page or its support page. It should not be too hard to type "mkv" in a search box and read one or two pages in the manual to find the information you are looking for.

I use a cheap Samsung F-5100 and it plays my HD MKVs converted from Blu-Rays with no problems.
That's an old model now, but no doubt there are newer similar ones.

I got it for about $65US from Walmart. But I suspect if Samsung is available where you are located, they may have similar models.

My sony bdp-s380 plays all my mkv files with no issues as long as there is no head stripping or other out of spec settings.Also has no cinavia firmware installed on it.

As far as I know, most LG Blu-ray players will play MKV files. And, I'm sure the latest Sony players also play MKV. At least my LG and Sony players do.

The player you are asking about is from 2009. Five years ago, Blu-Ray players were more limited as media players. I'm guessing you are interested in buying this old player on account of it being produced before Cinavia compliance was mandatory. An older player like this is not going to be as good as a media player as many of the current Cinavia-compliant models.

According to the manual, it does not play MKV files:
