    I have captured directly to avi format.
    Is there any software that could capture
    from dv camcorder to mpeg format?

    You can also download a trial version of Ulead Videostudio 6, Pinnacle Studio DV or AV 6, and several other video editing suites that have DV capture to mpeg encoder.
