Hi there, first time posting. I have a series of .mkv blu-ray files that I am attempting to edit the audio in. I used mkvmerge to separate the audio from the video, and I tried to import the .mka into Audacity. I did this a week ago and I remember it opening three stereo channels of voice, music, and sound effects respectively. However, when I tried the same thing today, they seemed to be all over the place in terms of what is in which channel.

I don't know if this is an mkvmerge problem, Audacity problem, or if there's anything I can do about it.

Post the audio details. Use mediainfo or mediainfoxp and open the mka or mkv.

If you use gMKVExtractGUI to extract the audio rather than mkvmerge I think you will find based on your mediainfo report you will get a FLAC file rather than a MKV file. It may be just a simple matter of changing the suffix but I am not sure of that. So give gMKVExtractGUI a go.

An MKA file with font attachments

Probably that's the reason why Audacity got "confused".

I tried the extractor and it gives this in mediainfo(couldn't cut to 1 min so entire duration):

When I compared the "extract" version with the "merge" version, they were identical in what was put into which channel.

Does this mean I'm out of luck? I'm pretty new to all this.
