  1. I have a mp4 video file, I want to cut away some unwanted parts. I may want to join it with another video.

    What software is suitable? Thanks

(Please do not recommend freemake, I know it can do it but it has virus scan warnings and I am avoiding it.)

You can try avidemux and video to video converter(under tools). Remember that they can only cut at keyframes.

  6. Can you teach me how to use Append? If lets say I got Video A and Video B, I am not sure how to use append to join them. Thanks

Open A, append B.....but as stated before, it probably will not work unless the two files have the same exact video and audio specs. The odds of that are VERY VERY low.

I tried to append and it does not work. It popup a message saying video dimensions, resolution and some video filter stuff are not the same so it does not work.

Is there a software that can join videos easily?

I used to use Freemake, it can join any video dimension/resolution/type. Just select videos and join. (I am not using Freemake now because it has virus warnings)
