    My HC-X920 came bundled with the above-mentioned software. If I buy a shoulder-mount AG-AC8, will I be able to edit its HD output with HD Writer? Neither the retailer nor Panasonic UK seem to know.

    Yes you can use HDWriter for the AG-AC8 camera files, but as far as software goes, HDWriter is an absolute dog and i have no idea how anyone can seriously use it.

    Just get a card reader for your computer and take the SDXC card from the camera and put it into the card reader and copy the MTS files directly from the Stream folder onto your Hard Drive, then find some decent editing software.
