Canon Vixia HF R50 Hd Camcorder

i had bought a Vixia r50 because the box said i could stream with it. of course it lied....sort of i found out i could stream from camera to phone or tablet.
i need help connecting camera to laptop so i can stream to the world. when i hook cable to usb port it recognized the camera gor a half a second then it was gone. I put the camera on playback mode and it recognized it. how can i get it to connect on record mode so i can stream? can some one please help?

This is your best bet: http://www.pixela.co.jp/oem/canon/e/cameraaccess_plus/rmc.html. If that doesn't work, you'd need to do a little reverse engineering to figure out all the ports, settings & protocols with which the cam is transmitting, before it would ever work for standard PC use.

I take it, you DON'T have a phone or tablet?...
