I am shopping for a Samsung Blu-ray player and it needs to be able to be region free hacked. I'd like some suggestions of not necessarily the best but most common player. Wi-Fi, Internet, USB and all the extras aren't really needed, I have my HTPC directly hooked up to my receiver/HDTV, so Netflix and all play through there. I am not a gamer, so that is not important either.
My requirements are: Samsung, Blu-ray, region free hack possible, plays all discs, very common (read cheap and easy to source)
I appreciate your help!

If you read the posts carefully, you will find that most of the Blu-Ray player hacks posted here at VideoHelp are for machines made for sale in other parts of the world, the EU, Asia, the Middle East, or Australia, not N. America. The same model sold here generally has different firmware and possibly different hardware as well, and the hack won't work.
If you want something that is guaranteed to be region free, look for a player at an online at a specialty store like http://www.world-import.com, www.220-electronics.com or www.samstores.com instead. The machines they sell have had hardware modifications performed to make them region free.
The least expensive region-free Samsung Blu-Ray player I saw:

http://www.220-electronics.com/samsung-bd-f5100-region-free-blu-ray-player.html
[Edit]Since these are graymarket items with hardware modifications, it is unlikely that the manufacturer warranty will be honored in the USA. Check with the seller about their policies, or maybe you can buy a warranty through a third party, like SquareTrade.Last edited by usually_quiet; 1st Dec 2014 at 09:39.

You HAVE to buy Samsung from a seller like
http://www.world-import.com
http://www.220-electronics.com
In the past 4-5 years we've had ONE guy in the USA or Canada claim he unlocked a Samsung player he bought from a store by entering a code. I don't remember the model, but I wouldn't bet on the post being truthful. Basically, Sony and Samsung players are the hardest to unlock in the world and those who live in the USA/Canada simply must buy from a reseller like I listed or usually_quiet listed or you should fully expect to never unlock the player. -
