  1. We have a Sony DHR-AX2000, now a little more than two years old. In March, everything in the view finder appeared as though it was seen through a red filter. Sent the camera back to Sony (shipping, insurance $$$) and before they ever provided an estimate, and despite several emails and phone calls asking them not to, they sent the camera back unrepaired. Eventually, they apologized and told us we would need a flexible printed circuit (#187985911) if we wanted to send the camera back to them.

Not wanting to go through that again, we took it to a local Sony-authorized shop that said they could fix it. For five months, we were told they were waiting for the part to come from Sony. Finally, last week they told us, they had gotten a message that usually meant they were never going to get the part. They also said Sony was "falling apart" and not providing support for their higher priced camera models.

We have contacted a few other Sony-authorized repair shops, asking if they have, or can get the part before we ship the camera, but have not gotten any answers. This camera cost $3,200 and only worked for about 18 months. Any suggestions?

Not wanting to go through that again...
You probably should. That model is 4 years old, has been superceded, and only Sony is going to have the parts you need, or can give you a replacement.
