I have been copying all of my old DVD's with the intention of having them play from a media player. In preparation I'm putting all video files onto a HDD. All of the old disk have no encryption on them. I have come across a couple of old disks that have DIVX files in them If I click on any file it plays on VLC player OK.

I thought that since there is no conversion involved I should be able to do a simple copy & paste to HDD. This doesn't work & I'm confused as to why not. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

I'm moving you to the general section as this is not video streaming related.

    .divx files?
    Home burned dvdrs/cdrs?
What happens when you try copy?

Or try copy with something like isobuster.

    a media player
Check the units support for .divx ... it may not which is why your problem exits.

Rename file extension of one of the .divx files to .avi and see if it plays

Problem fixed. It seems that my Burned has a fault & has now been fixed.
