  1. Hello I'm have a little issue with my One Touch Video Capture program. I installed everything but when I plug the USB Capture Card into my computer it doesn't give me any response. What should I do?

    A few questions...

    1. Which Windows OS is installed on your PC and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
    2. When you insert the VC500 into a USB port, does a blue LED on the device light up to indicate it is receiving power?
    3. Is there a sticker on the back of the VC500 that shows "VC500CXT"?

    1. Windows Vista 32-bit.
    2. Only a red light shows when I plug it in the USB port.
    3. No.

Diamond's website indicated that the power LED was blue, but the record LED was red, and blinks while the device is recording. When I tried to find out why you might see the red LED light up when the device was not recording, I found some user reviews indicating that the LEDs are sometimes reversed. I'm going to assume the LEDs are in reversed on your VC500 and the device is receiving power.

You should check to see that the device drivers are installed correctly. Plug the VC500 into a USB port and open Device Manager. According to Diamond, the VC500 is supposed to show up as "OTG102" under either "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers", or "Other Devices" if its drivers are not installed. (If there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point beside "OTG102" that is normal when the drivers are not installed.)

If the drivers are installed, the device should appear under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" as "USB2.0 Video Capture Device" and "USB2.0 Audio Capture Device".

To install drivers, load the installation disc into your computer's CD/DVD drive and select the "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" option from the Window that pops up on your screen. Note that according to Diamond the VC500 should be plugged in before installing drivers.

On the window that appears, click on the folder that says "Driver", and then click on the "setup.exe" application file to install the drivers for the VC500. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the drivers with the device still plugged in.

I believe OTG102 only corresponds to the Conexant version; the VC500s that say VC500CXT above the serial number on the back.

They certainly made things unnecessarily confusing by packaging two completely different capture devices into the same housing. Make sure the drivers you installed match the version you have.

If you know what ID shows up in Device Manager for the other version of the VC500 that would be useful information.

Even if the OPs VC500 does not identify itself as OTG102 in Device Manager before drivers are installed, the OP still needs to plug in the VC500 and look under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" or "Other Devices" for something that seems like it might be a USB capture device. If there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside beside the device, then the drivers are not installed.

    Indeed.

All I know about the previous VC500 is the info I found when contributing to the OTG102 page on LinuxTVWiki. But comparing the lsusb logs, if the "OTG102" display in Windows is derived from what Linux calls "iProduct", the older version would show up just as "USB Device". "OTG102" is littered throughout the lsusb log though; in "iConfiguration" and "iInterface". The corresponding lines for the old one just say "2.0" and blank, respectively.

Then what do you see under "Sound Video and Game Controllers" and "Other Devices"? "OTG102"? " "USB2.0 Video Capture Device" and "USB2.0 Audio Capture Device" Something else? Nothing at all?

Your VC500 is not being detected by the system. Try the other USB ports on your PC to see if the VC500 shows up in Device Manager when using any of them. If the VC500 doesn't show up using any USB port on your PC, but other USB devices work when connected, then your VC500 is dead.

So, the VC500 is dead... R.I.P.

[Edit] I found one other possibility to check, the VC500 is being detected in Device Manager as an "Unknown device". If that isn't the case either, then it is dead for sure.

I give up. You are either a troll wasting everybody's time or too stupid to be wandering around on your own.

What I meant to say was I uninstalled the VC500 because it wasn't responding to my computer. I might have installed it incorrectly.
