Is it possible to change the default settings for subtitle coding? Editing .ini or registry is ok. Now default settings for subtitle coding is Windows-1252 but I like to set it to UTF-8.

If you can't set it in the settings I doubt that. I have not seen any ini file.

There should be a "settings.xmr" file in the program directory. Take a closer look, maybe you can figure it out. It's all plain text and reminds me of an .ini file.

I do not have any settings.xmr -file at all (I searched with Filelocator Pro
)
I have XMediaRecode.ini at %appdata%\XMedia Recode but there was only one setting (SubpixelRef) which could be related to subtitles(?) and changing it to something else do not affect subtitle coding (on that drop-down menu at least).Last edited by yamaneko; 7th Nov 2014 at 14:15.

Most programs that work with subtitles don't support Unicode at all. While I'm not familiar with this program it is possible that it simply does not support Unicode.

It support UTF-8 but you have always remember choose it (and do not do anything else than add to queue and start encoding, otherwise Xmedia Recode forget what you set).

SubpixelRef clearly isn't related to subtitles, but x264 encoding settings. I just had a look at that ini. Couldn't make out anything regarding subs.

You might try it. Make a backup of your ini, then change some settings. Compare the results, what's changed in the file. Maybe there is some sort of what you want.
