  2. mp42 is the old non-standard Microsoft MPEG 4 Part 2 encoder. If you install that codec you should be able to encode with it with VirtualDub.

  3. Actually if that info is from mediainfo, that just refers to the container. It's MP4 container muxed with mp42 format profile (base media v2). There are slightly different specs and variations for MP4 container

e.g If I take a random Youtube video

    Code:
    Format : MPEG-4
Format profile : Base Media / Version 2
    Codec ID : mp42
    File size : 375 MiB
    Duration : 46mn 46s
Overall bit rate mode : Variable
    Overall bit rate : 1 120 Kbps
    Encoded date : UTC 2014-10-09 22:21:00
    Tagged date : UTC 2014-10-09 22:21:00

    Video
    ID : 1
    Format : AVC
    Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
    Format profile : High@L3.1
    .
    .

    .

You need to show the rest of the report, about the video compression

But for the container you can use various mp4 muxers, like mp4box, lsmash. Even ffmbc, ffmpeg can be set to mux in this fashion

  4. Sorry. I saw "need... mp42" and jumped to conclusions.

  5. And if you explain the reasons behind the "urgency" or some background info it might help as well. There might other considerations about the video, audio and/or container you might need to adjust
