  1. Hi,

I didn't have my minidv camcorder with me, so I used my DSLR to record a small 10 minutes videos. (light and sound event). The DSLR recorded it in HD Mpeg 4 H264.

But now, since my final target is DVD what are the best settings to start ?

Set the Vegas projet match the source ==> HD project and render it as DVD
Or is is better to set the Project to DVD and thus work at dvd resolution ?
WHat is the better encode quality, do the workflow in HD and render to lower resolution or is it better to directoly work in sd ???

  2. In general , the project settings should match the source

It won't impact the quality much (eitherway it's downscaled either early or later), but it offers you more flexibility. For example, you can use the same project to export HD video for youtube, or blu-ray instead of having to redo the project at a later date . You also have more options - e.g. perhaps you want to do the hd to sd scaling with a different algorithm
