Okay, I feel really stupid.....
I'm trying to do what I thought was a simple task. I have an intro video that I want to play automatically, then a DVD menu where you can select one out of four video options.
I did this using DVD architect studio 5.0. I wanted this to be an MP4 file, however I have no idea how to make it that way...
Can't seem to find anything to help me online.
Can anyone help me? Do I need to redo this in a different program?
Thanks... feeling really dumb...![]()

If you want to use an MP4* as a SOURCE file, with which to re-encode to DVD-compliant MPEG2, that might work (and DVD Architect often offers to do the re-encoding for you). It could be, however, that what DVD Architect allows as source formats does not include MP4*. In that case, you'd have to pre-convert it to something it could use as a source (and the best choice would be to make it an already-DVD-compliant MPEG2). You could try a variety of conversion tools from this site, including TMPGEnc, CCE, HCEnc, Virtualdub, AVIDemux, AVIUtl, etc.
If you want to use an MP4 file as it is, without re-encoding, that is not possible.
*MP4 is NOT a codec, but a container. For brevity, I'll assume this time that your MP4 contains AVC-encoded video.

I don't know... it sounds to me like karawr wants to create a DVD-Video structure (the menus, etc.), then export that to an MP4 and still retain the functionality of a DVD-Video disc. That in itself isn't possible.
karawr, you'll need to clarify what, exactly, you're trying (and want) to do.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
Ahhhh yes.... I am feeling extra stupid now. I didn't realize that you cannot retain dvd functions in an mp4 file.
So, I have decided to create an iso file instead....
I am using womble easydvd. I have a short intro video which I want to play automatically, then a DVD menu pops up. From there, you can select different clips to play.
However, when I save this as an ISO file, it does not load my intro video. I have set the intro video to be "first play" and to return to the menu page after playing, but it's not working!
Is anyone familiar with this program? -
Let's make this clear: you currently cannot retain FULL DVD or BD functions in ANY format except DVD/BD discs and their imaged file brothers. Even using "prepared, authored structure folders & files" isn't always fully compatible.
Assuming you created a PROPER type of ISO file (see where I said "imaged brothers"), it should be fully possible. But ONLY after you have properly authored the DVD, requiring the pre-inclusion of the first play asset you wanted to add.
I don't use that app myself, but their app website states that they support inclusion of a firstplay video with subsequent mainmenu with branching video choices, so it SHOULD work. I just couldn't tell you the steps.
What I would strongly suggest is that you start from scratch in Womble and create a new project and add assets one-by-one, starting with the firstplay item, then build the mainmenu, then add the menuchoice video assets and then link them. Sometimes in some apps you even have to specify a certain template to use - some of which include a firstplay item and some which don't (DVDA) and this can greatly and detrimentally affect the ease of navigation if you attempt to include it after-the-fact.
I notice you use the term "return to the menu page" regarding the end-action of the firstplay. Maybe this is just phrasing, but it shouldn't be "returning" to anything, as that would mean it had already been there, in which case the firstplay would not have been first.
