Some thoughts -- Might be a quicktime version issue, try using the latest version 7 rather than the more limited 10. Why use iPhoto at all, why not import directly into Premiere? Try making a sequence that matches the footage -- 1920x1080p @ 29.97.

He can confirm if this is true or not, but it seems like all the distortions in his examples posted were on the lower border (if clip is rotated, it's still on the original lower border). So maybe the 1088 does have something to do with it
But I can't explain the temporal differences, the defect sometimes disappears a few frames, reappears with no discernable pattern. I would have expected it to be stationary -
Hello everyone!!!
My first post here, although I've been a long time visitor to the site.
I've made a quick example of the effect the OP is trying to achieve, but I used After Effects instead of Premiere to do it. The final render was made in Premiere using Dynamic Link to include the After Effects Composition in the Premiere Sequence.
With this method I can't see any lines or distortion at the borders. -
Hi Diego, but it looks like you have a PC setup as well.
Myself and several others here can't see any distortions in premiere alone, or ae either with those types of manipulations on h264 DSLR clips with PC setups of Adobe either. It looks like it's something specific to his setup, or maybe os (mac) version of premiere, or something he neglected to mention that he is doing -
Yes, I'm on a PC.
And I see your point, maybe your assumption that the os (mac) version of the program is the problem here is right, cause I have encountered similar "unexplained" problems with my videos while working on Macs. That's one of the reasons I choose a PC for my personal use... -
I think more and more people are realizing that Apple is a lot of bling, and not very robust.
-
Another thing you can try is disabling the Mercury Playback engine and go to software only mode . Mac's tend to use AMD cards and the OpenCL isn't as stable in Adobe as Nvidia's CUDA
-
Isn't AMD the cheaper alternative? But don't Macs cost twice the price of PC's.
-
Generally , AMD cards are less expensive in the same class. But you can get higher SKU's that are expensive as well
Total cost of Macs do cost more, but not 2x, that's a fallacy propogated by Mac haters. The real cost savings is when you build your own system, which you can't really do with Macs. System integrators and pre-built systems (e.g. Dell, HP etc....) have quite a bit of a markup
"Macs just work" is another fallacy propogated by the Apple Marketing machine. They have problems same as PC's
