I was curious if people noticed or if I'm looking wrong, why eBay has zero used monitor calibration devices? They have some new, but none used. Seems a bit odd. I would think these are use a few times and now what kind of tools and there would be people selling them, but I seen none used at all on eBay. For me I need one for doing color correction on some converted VHS tapes, or soon to be converted VHS tapes, and once done probably won't care if my monitor us uber calibrated. Or not enough to keep it laying around the house so didn't want to pay what new ones cost. Thoughts?
Thanks.

Your monitor won't stay in adjustment for more than a few weeks. Components mature and age, backlights change hue, so color and luminance will drift. The hardware used to re-calibrate at intervals can also be used with other specialized software to calibrate that TV you're viewing with its godawful "mode"settings, which works against calibrating your monitor to test your videos for TV viewing.
After a couple of years of use, the sensors in most colorimeters drift away from their own calibration. No one would want to buy them, so no one tries to sell them to users who know what they're doing. If you want a colorimeter or photometer that lasts longer than typical consumer models, get up about a grand or more (usually more) and buy a pro model, which would be recalibrated every year or so. Some of the better consumer models (not the cheapos) can be refurbished by outfits that specialize in that area -- for a price, of course. Amateurs and most paid amateurs don't use those services. Professionals use them all the time.Last edited by LMotlow; 29th Oct 2014 at 20:39.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I see lots of used ones. Make sure you sort them by lowest price and shipping.

Yeah, right. You do that. Make sure it's a Spyder, which gets such bad reviews from advanced users that they sell 'em off for something better. Find the cheapest. If the one you find isn't also the oldest, keep looking. And in every endeavor throughout your life, always remember to keep lowering the bar. It's the way everything is done now.

Didn't mean to imply you're not satisfied. True, the Spyder4Pro is an improvement, and the Spyder4Elite is even better. Depends on your expectations and requirements.
