I downloaded a couple of dvd rips wich are encoaded in divx form...my question is should I encode them as vcd or svcd I was wondering If I would see a visual difference?![]()

The way I understand it is, the SVCD standard uses mpeg2 encoding which makes for better quality picture than VCD, but there are few stand-alone home DVD players that will play SVCDs. If you're wanting to burn and watch movies on your tv, then you should probably go with the VCD standard unless you test your DVD player with an SVCD and find that it will play it.

if vertical resolution is above 240 then go with svcd to preserve the max picture detail
