    I'm trying to figure out what the proper range for qscale is - but it seems like this is not that simple

    Reading the ffmpeg-docs the -q(scale) option takes a number from 1 (best quality) to 31 (worst quality). But elsewhere the -q(scale) option is documented as codec specific which means that one codec might take numbers in the range 10..500 other codecs might take -10..10 or 0..10 or what not.

    Can anyone please tell me how to use the q(scale) option correctly?
