This is a problem that has surfaced recently I don't know why.
If I take a snapshot with VLC, colors on the picture will be all wrong. Red will become bllue, green will turn purple and vice versa.
and here's the image should look like
The first pic was taken with png, the second was taken in jpg format. So the problems lies in producing png. Strange thing is it wasn't doing that before. I've been using vlc for screenshots for a while and it recently it started to do that. I don't know if it because I installed something but I have done so much things recently in video and hardware department, so I have no idea what's causing it.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Simple uninstall and install again with reset configuration
also check if this happens in vlc portable version -
This happens also in vlc portable version ?
this happens with all type video files? -
Ok, I think I have found some clues. All these videos showing these symptoms are recorded in true RGB (Fraps and DXtory codec). Lower settings doesn't seem to replicate the problem and seems to work as it was before. I remember that I forced FRAPS recently to record full RGB. Maybe VLC doesn't output PNG at it full color range?

I don't know
but try save PNG file in MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema)
