    Hello

I am trying to convert a film I have on BluRay to MKV.

I have ripped the BluRay to my HDD and I can play it in VLC.

I have tried MakeMKV and it basically hangs, its never gets to the end and just appears to go on for ever. In the past I have really enjoyed using MakeMKV and it has never failed me. I am using MakeMKV version 1.8.14.

Next I tried tsMuxer and mkvMerge. I used tsMuxer to demux, this created a .264 file, .ac3 and .sup. I then used mkvMergeGUI to create the final MKV.

The final MKV when played is full of artefacts, screen corruption and intermittant sound - unwatchable.

I am now trying BDHero, but I suspect I will get the same problem

    For Info :

    The source BluRay is H.264 1080p / 23.976 with Dolby TrueHD 7.1

Any help will really really be appreciated.

    Thanks

    M

    What did you rip with?

I think you can add blu-ray m2ts files or blu-ray playlists directly in mkvtoolnix / mkvmergegui. No need for tsmuxer.

Is this a commercial BD? Sounds like a DRM issue.

AnyDVD to rip to my HDD
Yes, its a commercial BD which I own - Its the Night Before Christmas.

Can't see it being DRM, as the ripped backup (on my hdd) plays fine in VLC

Just tried BDHero and it worked a treat - how very odd ?

    Suggestions ?

Be happy you found a solution that worked. Sometimes one tool fails and another works. It just happens like that sometimes.

Yep that's been my experience too. Best to keep a couple tools around in case one fails. Same way with ripping music.
