I'm currently using TMPGEnc to convert to SVCD and it takes me about 2 hours to do a 200MB avi file. Is this normal or is there a faster way? Thanks in advance for any comments...

When asking a "is this an OK amount of time to xxx" question, it's always helpful to give a brief description of the PC performing the task. Roughly speaking, more CPU=less time...more encoding options (noise reduction, higher motion search estimation=more time, resizing/cropping/color/etc adjustment=more time.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
