    Hello,

    I'm looking for a 'Video analyser online' id : an url which offers the same services as NBO Builder, MediaInfo, GSpot, etc ...

    I indicate a file (.avi, .mp4, .mkv, etc) on my hard disk and it give me technical data from my file as :

    * codec video, dims (height * width), framerate, length
    * codec audio (number of chanels, codec for each one, framerates ...
    * name of container

    free, of course

    Best thing : with an API : it will be great !!

    That makes even LESS sense than the original question. Ridiculous.

    Why in heavens name would you want to go online to find information available locally without a network connection, delay, errors, etc? If you want to know the truth just interrogate the file with one of those methods you listed. Media Info usually reads MetaData first and if you want real data strip it off first.

    ??? There are sites which propose to CONVERT your file because conversion is sometime difficult for many people. You originally asked about online service for file information and this is very simple with one of the many free programs such as MediaInfo.

    You did not get an answer because nobody here (including me) would use an online analysis service to obtain information about their media files. As was already pointed out to you, it is more convenient to install and use software like MediaInfo for that purpose when such information is needed often.

    Google found this:
    http://www.x-dream-media.com/index.php/en/xdm-tools/264-online-file-analyzer

    I have never used this service and I am not willing to test it for you.

    The service only uploads the first 265kb from the file to get the header. If for some reason the required information is not stored in the first 265kb then this online service won't work for that type of file.

    I know that MediaInfo have binaries for CentOS. Now that I know it's realisable I think I'll try to my server ... only 265kb !! Yes !

    and, again, a great thank to usually_quiet !!
