Hi all,
just purchased a video from ARTE Boutique (ARTE is a culture TV channel and they have this web shop selling stuff, including VOD). The website player is all Silverlight. I dowloaded the video to have it locally and play it when I'm not connected. Used a shovel and a flashlight to find the folder where Silverlight stores downloaded content. Found the WMV file (950MB). They urge you to download their proprietary player app to watch those offline, but come on, let me do what I want with the material I just bought!!! So I want to play this on VLC. It's garbled (see attached image). Then I updated VLC. Now it just won't do anything when I hit play.
Any suggestion of how to play, or convert this?
I'm using a Mac running OSX 10.7.5. I also have a Win7 x64 bear of a computer if needed.

Silverlight is heavily encrypted and impossible to crack. Watch it the way they advise or you will be frustrated for a long time.

Even better, just boycott any site that requires you to install and use Silverlight,
problem solved. -
Wel well. First of all, thank you guys for your quick input.
Several years ago, when I first saw the Silverlight logo, I immediately thought this thing smelt bad. I had managed to stay away from it until now. Boy does it stink. Boycott!
