  1. I am attempting to encode a VOB which HB reports has 1 chapter, so it is disabling chapter markers, over riding my desire to have markers in my MKV by using --markers command.

Any way to force MKV to ignore chapters, or to force markers?? Google has not led me to any solution, thanks for any help!

Where is that chapter marker? Is it in the middle of the file or does it just mark the beginning and run to the end?

If there's only one chapter and it encompasses the entire file then there's no point in wasting effort adding the thing to the file.

    But the Handbrake guide says:

These will be placed at the same point where the chapter breaks are on the DVD.
You said you're encoding a VOB and not a DVD. There's a difference.

    Somehow I missed this...

It was a VOB taken from a DVD ISO file, (not split to 1gb) via DVDShrink for encoding.

From what I was reading, HB would GENERATE chapters... My bad.

What a bummer too, that would have been an awesome feature.

Thank you all kindly for your help!!

What you want is MKVPropEdit/The MMG Chapter Editor or MP4Box depending on your container of choice.

-Edit- Why doesn't MKVPropEdit get a link?
