iMovie and Stabilization

What exactly is the stabilization feature about? I can see that it is available while capturing.
Can i use it after capture when loading the captured dv files later on?
Whill it still work if i delete the two folders (iMovie Thumbnails, iMovie Movie Cache) that are created while capture?

It varies depending on your imovie version, but most of what you want is doable. Google imovie stabilization for your version and well written apple support information will appear at the top.
