i have super v62. i convert a big file from mkv to vob and didn't realize at first there no subtitle carrying over cuz the subs is in the mkv.
i read the super faq page on ac3 5.1.
how to embed srt with the vob so it can toggle on /off? do i throw in the srt with the mkv for encoding and it would merge or what?
appreciate folks that done this before, cuz the conversion for my file take a while. it be a headache if i find out that it didn't work ....![]()

Use convertxtodvd or avs2dvd if you want to make a dvd(vob files) from a mkv with srt subtitles.

ok, thanks for the advices. convertxtodvd worked, well from the original mkv file that is.
however i got an already converted vob that didn;t haave the subs embedded, any way to save the situation without reconverting from scratch? specifically, merging srt with vob in that state. -
You'd get better results by starting over and using AvstoDVD. But it is possible to add your SRT subs to an already created DVD. Assuming your VOBs also have the IFO and BUP files included, follow method 2 of Baldrick's guide:

ok more questions. say i wanna merge srts to mp4 and convert to vob and have subs work so it can be selected and deselected, how to do that with convertxtodvd?
do you just throw in srt and mp4 and convert and it would work or you need to do more to get it to work?
i noticed that for the chapters subdividing, you get the divisions in mini-boxes that loop play, if dealing with episodes, do i need to convert all the episodes planned for dvd on one instance to get a minibox loop preview for each episode or can i do each episode on several instances and just combine all in one burning instance when making the dvd? please advice. -
I'm pretty sure convertxtodvd makes the subs switchable by default.

ok didn't work. wasted a little bit time doing mp4 and srt together but the vob came back without switchable subs in it. actually there was nothing under subs at all.
i'm going to venture to guess convertxtodvd cannnot do it. the other instance that worked was when sub was already in it(mkv i think) and it carried over to vob.
ok any recommendation on user friendly/easy to use app that let you put subs in the common video file formats other than vob? -
nm. i found the answer. from some digging, got a lead saying that mkv a better format to house srt, well something like that. and then i used some mkv app to merge the srt and mkv and got it switchable. tested it on dvd player app on pc and switchable there also.
this problem gave me a freakin headache metaphorically...guess nobody posted ever tried to do what i did otherwise the solution would've been obvious...
