I'm on a laptop with Windows 8.1, looking at the Association section of the Potplayer preferences. All the boxes under Associations are ticked, DVD is ticked under Auto Play, Potplayer is the default program for every file type it can open, and in the AutoPlay section of the Windows Control Panel, where it says "Choose what happens when you insert each type of media or device", under DVDs > DVD movie, the already saved option is DVD playback (Daum PotPlayer). Despite all these settings, when I insert a compatible DVD, absolutely nothing happens. The DVD makes the normal sounds it makes every time it's inserted into the drive, but just goes quiet after a minute. The Potplayer window never appears. It's not an issue with the DVD drive, as far as I know. I'm able to play multiple DVDs with several programs, including Potplayer, but when I set Potplayer to Auto Play, it just won't do it. The other programs will, just not Potplayer. Please help. I've looked on every message board and cannot find another issue like this.

I've just tried but it works without any problem in my laptop with windows 8.1. Your setup looks correct. What players did you try?

Media Player Classic (works fine), KMPlayer (works fine; shouldn't, but I edited the Windows registry to get it to work), Windows Media Player (which tells me it can't play a file with the extension . ), Cyberlink PowerDVD 12 (works fine), GOM Player (which opens but crashes every time), and VLC (works fine). All of them will at least open on insertion, but Potplayer just doesn't respond at all.

Try the latest version 1.6.49876 from here https://www.videohelp.com/tools/PotPlayer.Do not forget to install additional codec in the end of installation.
I have no clue for your problem. -
