I've heard that there's something called tooLame that you can use with TMPG. I haven't really had any problems with the sound quality with just the standard TMPG though.

I thought that so, but yesterday i tried one of my SVCDS on a friends Home Theatre (with an incredible sound equipment) and the sound worked fine, but he played one of his VCDS and the sound was SPECTACULAR!.

  4. I use tooLame to encode the audio for my SVCDs. It encodes the wav to an mp2 file great, but when I multiplex it to the video file with TMPGENC, the quality seems to degrade. I get a weird buzzing/humming noise. It's slight, but still noticable. Better than TMPGENC's audio encoding though.

  5. Ok, little tips that will help with sound.

Go to doom9.org, go to the downloads section and get these apps (under audio, you'll need to select show all)

    tooLame
    SSRC

Set these up as external tools in TMPGEnc.

Don't multiplex using TMPGEnc, use bbMPEG (it gives better results).

If you don't mind a bit more complicated stuff use BeSweet to do your DVD audio (guides and download also at doom9).
