How to set a delay in the display of an out of sync subtitle?

Sometimes a subtitle is more or less on sync with the video, but it start too soon or too late. If you have a player that allows you to advance or delay the subtitle (I personally use bsplayer) and know the correct setting, you can actually use it. If you are force to do this, it means you don't have proper alternatives. What I do in those cases is:

- I find the proper delay for a subtitle
- I write the delay on the file's title (e.g. "Stupid Hollywood movie +17.srt")
- I manually correct the display time when I play the movie

This looks bad in the folder, and other people don't understand how to make it work if you don't explain them. Beside, if you have many videos with similar names, like:

Stupid Hollywood movie +17.srt
Stupid Hollywood movie.avi
Stupid Hollywood movie 2.avi
Stupid Hollywood movie 2.srt
Stupid Hollywood movie 3 - The revenge.mp4
Stupid Hollywood movie 3 - The revenge.srt

players don't know what subtitle to read if you don't have an exact match.
So: is there a way to code the delay inside the file in order a player does the job on its own? Something like:

Wait 17 seconds
