    Hello,

I'm experiencing a very very annoying issue cutting videos with Virtualdub. The issue is: keyframes don't seem to "stay" fixed but "shift" or "dance around": for example: I cut at a specified keyframe, but when I go back the cutting point is not the one I thought! And when I save the video, cutting points are completely different. Editing a video this way is... virtually impossible!

This problem presents almost everytime I try to use VirtualDub (with long or short videos.)

My VirtualDub version is 1.10.4. As for decompressors, I have the latest K-lite pack installed. My OS is Win 7 64 bit.

Any hint on how to troubleshoot the problem?

    Davide

There was a short discussion on the VirtualDub forum: it was explained but didn't seem to me that it was resolved.

  3. Whatever VFW decoder you're using isn't frame accurate when decoding out-of-order frames (which codecs like h.264 use). Especially with open GOPs. Try using a different decoder. Switching to a program that uses DirectShow or its own built in decoder rather than VFW might help.
