    Hi folks

I have ffdshow installed and set for decoding mpeg4 and mpeg2. When playing xvid etc I get FFV icon in the toolbar which enables me to adjust lots of settings for video display. Can I get the same thing to work on mpeg2? The FFv icon doesn't appear

please let me know how to set it up if it's possible to get this to work

What software player are you using?
If the tray icon does not appear, it's because the player is not using ffdshow
    (for MPEG-2 video, at least).

  4. You would have to enable mpeg2 in ffdshow configuration , AND disable all other mpeg2 directshow decoders, with something like win7dsfiltertweaker, or graphstudio, to manage the various filters your system. Either disable or lower the merit of the various mpeg2 codecs. And you might have to do some internal configuration with BSPlayer, in case it uses some internal codecs

  6. MPC-HC has options for adding "external" filters. So you could add ffdshow to MPC-HC as an external filter and give it the desired priority, which bypasses the DirectShow system for deciding which codecs are used for a particular format.

I mention all that, as maybe there's a chance BSPlayer has a similar external filter option. I'd don't know..... I've never used it.

MPEG-2 files (e.g. inside of WTV, TS, MPG wrappers) don't need FFDSHOW to be able to be played successfully by Windows Media Player, PotPlayer, etc. without assistance from external codec packs.

Why are you using BSPlayer to play your MPEG-2 files? Have you tried PotPlayer?
