Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
I have installed AviUtl got from tools section and also all requisite C++ Redistributable Packages along with .NET Framework latest. I am unable to export to MP4 files and get error message. I have verified the availability of x264.exe , qaac files etc. in the folder. I am not able to figure out the cause for the failure. However, I could export the files to avi. Can any one help me to solve this.

@shans - In the adv x264 export GUI settings, set the path for the x264.exe binary
-
You are using 32bit Win7 while the x264 I bundled is 64bit in the Win7 pack.
You can grab the 32bit version of x264:
http://komisar.gin.by/
(those items ending with .X86, not those .X86_64)
then set the new file path in the setting dialogStopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

You can ignore this error. Yet, an absence of OpenCL.dll on your computer suggest you either have no appropriate video driver installed, or your machine is quite a relic.
2> mkvmerge
go to mkvtoolnix 's website and grab a 32bit executable.
Actually you should better consider using the XP Pack instead(bundled programs are 32bit) or upgrade your Windows to 64-bitStopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

@ MaverickTse : Thank you very much for your help to get rid of major issues.

Is there a method or a plug-in to export a 24-bit and/or multi-channel WAV file?

When exporting WAV, try one of the AC3 codec.

Hi Maverick & Racer, sorry I know this is off-topic but would you mind sharing what screen recording tools u r
using to make the very nice video tutorials u have? Tks! -
I use an old free CamStudio version 2.0 (2003) because it works great and no Addware or crapware. The trick is in the framerate and the x264_VFW settings I use for capture.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Thanks racer! I have CamStudio 2.17 r316 but it hits the 4GB file limit in one minute or two when I do a full screen capture. My screen isn't that big: 1680x1050. Pls point me to a forum I can ask about camStudio or find more tricks (e.g. x264 & framerate) to work with the Camstudio 2.0. Tks once again!
update:
Thanks racer! I got x264 working now with 2.17/r316 with the exact x264 setting as in the following link. Tks so much for your expertise and pointer!

I paid a little to get the BandiCam Full version.
Since I need its QSV/CUDA mode to offload the CPU burden when doing demonstration on CPU-heavy tutorials, such as Compiling, Heavy Plugins.

I am a newbie on this and I am looking through the instructions. I can't seem to find how to have two videos one on top of another to compare. I see the four layers on the bottom (two for video and two for audio) but in terms of comparison, I only can see one video at a time.
-
Basic operations in video demo can be found here:
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/360967-AviUtl-video-tutorial?p=2288628#post2288628
In your situation, if your video on Layer N+1 is larger than the video on Layer N, you will only see the video on Layer N+1 at default position (0,0).
You need to either adjust the coordinate or shrink the video on Layer N+1 using [Zoom%] sliderStopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

For reference the specs of the video are in post 15 in this thread
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/370556-Need-help-in-editing-two-videos-of-different...ngth?p=2378161
You actually don't care about the audio for this editing part - you're just using the video 2 as a visual guide to edit video 1. But you might still use the audio to assist your editing. You can disable tracks by clicking the layer number (the track will become "greyed out" )
Import video1 (drag & drop) to the timeline and it will ask if you want to match the specs in the check box, check yes. This means the timeline will be 848x480, 29.97fps just like video1. If you have audio grouped, track 1 will be video 1, track 2 will be video 1's audio
Then drag video2 to the timeline (track 3, and 4 for audio)
The layer order is reversed in aviutl - layers with higher numbers are actually "on top". So Video2 on Track3 will "cover up" Video1 on Track 1 . Resize Video2 to the same dimensions as Video1 (you're only using it as a guide)
The "opacity" parameter is adjusted by"clearness" in aviutl. 100% clearness is 100% transparent. So if you adjust video2 to 50% clear, you should "see" a 50-50 mix of video 1 and 2. You want to make edits to video 1 by cutting out parts that are absent in video 2. You would do that by marking in / out by splitting ("s" key ) the in and out points and hitting delete. Then sliding the remaining video over . Unfortunately aviutl doesn't have "ripple deleteing" like retail NLE's which automatically slides the video over after you delete
When you're done, you can disable the unwanted track 2 and export the video only. Then use a muxer like mkvtoolnix, mp4box etc... to mux the newly edited video with original Japanese audio from video #2.
The editing itself will be easier in a retail NLE - But aviutl can import almost anything because of L-smash. You'll have great difficulty importing a MKV as-is into a retail NLE. (you would need workarounds like muxing into MP4, or re-encoding to a lossless intermediate). You can also export with x264cli directly in aviutl. It's more difficult in retail NLE's to do that, and only x264vfw -
Thank you very much for the instruction. Like you said when I tried vegas, there are potential issues importing mkv. I keep getting this message saying the codec has a problem. But my second file that is in mp4 is totally fine. What software should I use to convert the mkv file?
On another note, I am trying out aviutl. Like my post above, somehow I am not able to get the video side by side the second time. I don't know if some settings got messed by accident or what. Also, is it possible to slow down the playing of the video so that I can see it better which scene needs to be cut? I guess I have to watch the whole 58 min video 1 in order to see where that extra 3 min is at. If there is another easier way out there, please let me know. -
I think I have similar problem. I try exporting a file even though I didn't do any editing and I got the message.
auo [error]: The path of NeroAacEnc.exe is not set.
auo [error]: Please prepare NeroAacEnc.exe and set its path correctly.
I look through the zip file I download and I don't see any neroaccenc available to install -
clone your project file, and change the video reference to some short dummy clips, and post the whole project(zipped) here.
Can't really tell what is going on just from your description.
If you have no clip replacement, post the AUP project file (zipped) and post the MediaInfo reports for your MKVs in questionStopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

Read carefully on how I replied to shan.
Nero forbids re-distribution of NeroAACCodec and therefore you will not find it in the AviUtl package.
If you cannot find it out from Nero's package, than I think you should get more familiar with general PC operations before doing Video Editing works.
You can get around it by installing iTune and then choose the qaac audio encoder instead.Stopping development until someone save me from poverty or get me out of Hong Kong...

I used to have an old version of Nero cd software but I think that is outdated already. I will try your other suggestion with iTunes. I just hope my all output at the end can be played on media player Classic or gom player software. I think I'm on the right track since I got things close to working the first time. Just need to be more familiarized with the functions of aviutl to go further in the beginning.

I said I NEED your project file!
Never mind, I actually got it back to work after playing around with it. -
mkvtomp4 got my file to work on vegas but somehow I am not able to get the two files playing. I read somewhere I have to choose multi camera or something. I can hear the sound but image just remain static.
As for the qaac encoder you recommend using itune, I download it but I still see messages saying failing to export to x264. Is there something still missing or not done properly
