Hi There,
My encoding process takes about 15 hours (DVD to xVCD - 720x576), and sometimes, after all that hours of encoding the resulting MPEG1 file as errors (a couple of frames), the visual error is anoying but it's not critical, the problem is when the error doesn't let me cut the movie in smaller pieces.
For example, yesterday I coded a 2 hour long movie and when I try to cut it in smaller pieces TMPGEnc stops at 16:12 (minec), and in fact it has a little jump at exacly that time (indicating some bad frames).
Is it possible to fix this MPEG file or do I have to reencoded it again?
Is it possible to avoid future cases likes this one (any setting in TMPGEnc)?
Thanks

I don't know if you can fix it, but you can try to Demuplex and then Multiplex it again as a VideoCD Non-Standard, it might help.
And for future, use the Source Range when you encode, will save you time on the splitting later on!Email me for faster replies!

AviSynth is a "video/audio server" thats works with Flask as a source to TMPGEnc. (With a Thunderbird 1GHz I can only get it serving at 8 fps with with a resolution of 720x576) -
Why don't you use a native encoding plugin for Flask ? if you are doing VCD, you can use Panasonic, and if you are doing SVCD, then you can use CCE, both will provide you great quality.
I know this doesn't solve your problem, but it might provide you with an alternative till we figure the problem itself.Email me for faster replies!

This happened when I use the resolution 720x576, when I use the VCD resolution it worked well.
xVCD uses the VCD format MPEG-1 for video and MPEG-1 Layer 2 for sound, at higher bitrates and higher resolutions...
But thanks any way... -
Yeah, i'm familiar with that problem, the Panasonic Encoder can only do a standard VCD, it doesn't handle non-standard.
You could use CCE for VCD as well, and also XVCD, it can handle those, and it is much faster then I believe both TMPGEnc and Panasonic.Email me for faster replies!

Because, I think I prefer to loose a couple of hours more and get a good quality movie than a average quality one. -
I can't tell you from my personal experience, but from reading results of other users on the forum, it seems to produce better quality then TMPGEnc.
