  1. hi everyone,
i know this question has beenposted about thousand of times, but still i couldn't find an answer to this question in this forums.
my problem is: i burnt an .avi-file to a vcd. i didn`t encode or edit this .avi in any kind. the sync of the audio and video stream are perfectly fine in the movie file, but in the .dat-file on the vcd the streams get out of sync. it's not much, but still it's disturbing.
what did i do wrong when i burnt the vcd, or what do i have to do burn it correctly? do i have to use any special software?
    thanks in advance.

  2. WHAT YOU MEAN FOR OUT OF SYNC: PLAYING ON PC? - OR PLAYING ON A STAND ALONE DVD PLAYER? OR BOTH ?
AND WHEN YOU SAY YOU DID'NT ENCODE THE FILE : WHO IS ENCODING FROM AVI TO MPG ? NERO ?

  3. ok, the audio stream is out of sync on both, pc and standalone, because they both use the same file, the AVSEQ01.DAT. the .avi-file i burnt the vcd from is IN sync. so i thought it would be no prob.
the encoding does nero 5.5.8.0. should i use another one??

  4. yes , of course . I think it's the most logical thing you have to try -
try to obtain an mpg file and play it before burning -
You could use TMPGenc . you could find link on this site in the "author" zone -

  6. Hello, this is my first forum post here.
    I have Pinnacle Studio7 and Pinnacle Express. I captured a digital8
video into studio7, edited it, rendered it to .AVI, then imported into
Express. I did this for several clips and made a menu and burned
the final VCD with Express. I used all the Pinnacle default settings.
When I play the VCD in my standalone Apex AD-5131 or Apex AD-500W
    players, there is no problem.
However, when I play the VCD in a computer, it is out of sync (in both
    Windows Media Player and WinDVD).
BTW, I am not using any transitions in the clips.
Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this?
    Thanks.

  7. well this is exactly the contrary of the problem i had: i create vcd that played in sync on windvd and on win-media-player and out of sync when played on my pioneer 444 stand alone!

i found the problem in this case was pioneer 444 (italy): he is able to play vcd only with standard audio (this is for mine i don't know other brand or even same model if they play different)

I did vcd encoding audio at 128 kb and video standard in order to keep dimension of the file small enough just to fill one cd 650mb/74min.
Pioneer played this out of sync.
I re-encoded using audio 224 kb and pioneer start playing perfectly in sync.

In your case i'am not able to understand why on pc is out of sync and then apex do the miracle!

the only thing that i can get in my mind is related to your sound-blaster system or codec in use to play in windvd/wmp.
but i suppose you have to ear same problem with any other .avi .mpg
    file you play -

Can you try others computers if they are out of sync even over them?
and more : are your vcd perfectly standard ?

    regards Marco
