  2. DVDPatcher was able to change the display aspect ratio to 16:9. Be sure to set the frame width to 720 too.

I added the m2v and MP2 audio to TSMuxer setting the video as 16:9 and voila it works. ProjectX definitely cleaned things up.

Hi all I didn’t give up I haven’t been well which is why my reply is so late. I have tried all these programs now last count 12 and have had success with Xvid4PSP I can convert it straight to AVI only thing is is there a way to make the files smaller if not I will be happy how it is. I have so much to learn. The other programs I'm sure work great but I honestly cannot figure them out. Through this whole saga I didn't want to test anyones patience by being a complete idiot but you guys have been great. Obviously I don't get out anymore so its been nice having people I don't even know give up their time and knowledge to help me. Trying to sort this out myself I had no hope but I thought there had to be a way to do it. So thanks for all your help and for solving the problem I am very grateful.

Good to hear you have it working for you - maybe sometime you could post your settings used. There are many variable available in Xvid4PSP so you could probably make the avi smaller albeit at cost of quality. Re what you have done, does it play and look OK?

  6. If you're using bitrate based encoding:

    Code:
files size = bitrate * running time
So, to get a smaller file use a lower bitrate.

If you're using quality based encoding, choose a lower quality.

I am still in need of help I just finished converting a footy game and the size is 30.3GB. All I did was change the aspect ration to 16.9. I do want it to be good quality and watchable but wow not at that size.

  8. If you use what I suggested in post #32 the file size won't change at all. If you're reencoding to make a smaller file do what I suggested in post #36. In Xvid4PSP that means setting the CRF to a higher value.

That would be bigger than the original Toppy file unless it was 6 hours or so. Maybe the settings?
    What settings did you use?

The original size is 8.20GB I didn't use DVDPatcher because I wanted AVI so the Xvid4PSP I thought would be better. I'm sorry I know nothing about bitrates or where to find where to change it that program. So should I just use the DVDPatcher program and then convert that file to an AVI file as I am hopeless with all the settings of all the other programs.

I am experimenting with Xvid4PSP as I don't normally use it BUT it is a good program.
In the meantime I was able to reduce a 4GB TS file down to a tad under 2GB. Looks ok certainly not Blu ray quality.
This is what I used - loaded in a file from my off air PVR, then I selected via the drop down menu from FORMAT AVI Hardware HD, then going to the menu item along the top of the screen VIDEO selected aspect ratio and change it to 16:9.

Next looking at the Audio button bottom left I changed it to Copy (no need to waste time re encoding the audio) so the setup looked like these images

Of course it's not Blu-ray quality -- it's standard definition video, not high definition video. If you can get something like the attached file (about half the size of your original sample) you'll be doing fairy well.
