    Hello,

Under 'advanced' tab, and in the area that all the additional features, source range, inverse telcine. . .etc.
which setting should I use for "[x]Deinterlace" in TMPGEnc
    v12 setting =
    v12a/12b/12h/12i setting =

There are 17 diferent selectoins to choose from. But, which one should I be using for dvd rips and captures. Some versions of TMPGs changes there wordings.
Can someone explain which ones to use for dvd rips and for capturing and for which ver of TMPGs? I use 12/12d maybe 12i. I'm testing with mpeg1 and mpeg2:
    * dvd rips: ___________________________________________
    * captures (352x480, 480x480): ________________________

I am experimenting on dvd ripping AND capturing.
since the price dropped down on the "DC10-Plus", $59
I went ahead and got it.
Ok, now I have the dvc usb 1, ati-tv wonder and dc10-plus.
IMO: ati-tv wonder and "dvc usb 1" are way too many blocks on dvd stnd player (apex ad-500) via 352x240.
So far, I've gotten some ok test captures (directv) with the dc10, but it at the moment, the encoded captures pretty blurry, and I don't want to use any other advanced features, for this will add way to much encoding time to my projects.
And, but for the life of me, even with my upgraded system, I can't capture (without frame drops) at 640x480 only the cropped selection will capture without drops.

YES, via chipset sucks big time - never again!!
to date, I still have issues: capturing, dvd &cd-rom drive, etc.

    I don't think there is a proper De-interlace setting
for this card's captures. I've followed this
group for months and have yet to find something
    that works.

The Blend in TMPGenc 12 seems to yield the least
amount of "lines", but the tradeoff is that you
    lose sharpness on the picture.

The best I've come up with is to not De-interlace,
keep the SVCD interlaced, and make sure the
source is listed as Field Order B.

Just for info, i use 12 and 12d. And both have some minor word changes in them and therefore, the settings don't same (mean) the same thing.

But, I don't know what this "field order b" is. ...unless you mean for the "Field order"'s box, the two settings listed for use, either:
    * Top field first (field A)
    * Bottom field first (field B)

If you mean this above, then yes, the (field B) is always selected.
Ok, if I don't check the box for for [x]Deinterlace, and burn to vcd or svcd, I get those venishon blinds during any kind of movements. I learn through trial and error, to check the the Deinterlade box, and select (v12) "Both fields" or (v12d) to "Double". Please note that this is for captures and dvd rip, becase they both produce this "blinds" affect.

as for dc10 captures, when I go into the "make file", first I go to Settings, and chose Huffy and set the resolutions ot 352x480 and as for bits, I've ben using 3000 (was a random guess). is that a good setting? Anyone? I notice that if I save in its MJPEG, it takes alomost twice as long and the quality is awlful !!, unless I'm doing something wrong?

Hope above is more info towards solution(s).

    Thans all

  4. Hi vhelp
I will try these settings out - I seem to have some similar problems.
I can't seem to find the "Blend" function - where is it ?
Is the setting "Double" specific to 12d - I'm using either 12a or 12h ?
It sounds like you are normally using 640x480 for capturing - is that what you have found best ?

Thanks, and I will post my test results.

    Bach:

I've ben doing my tests on v12 not v12a. ...and also v12d.
THIS JUST IN - - I cannot seem to get any mpeg2's encode to work on
my apex ad-500 player. nothing (settings) seem to work. currently, I'm
in the middle of testing mpeg2 on from version 12. I was sure that it
worked on a number of tests yesterday. Will post answer shortly.
Right now, I'm burning with nero 5.0.4.4

    Ok,

    for anyone keeping track...
I managed to get mpeg 2 workong again on my Apex AD-500 player.
It turns out that I didn't use one of the standard templages i modified
to encode to mp2. No it works.

Ok, as a test, i encoded to mp2, and burned (nero 5.0.4.4) and yes, it
    played FINE on my apex.

My next step is to encode to mpeg 1 with XVCD something, but I would
like opions on the best settings - ANYONE ??? I've ben messing around
but not much luck. I need some assistance with this XVCD settings.

I read somewhere where someone went with mpeg 2, but was NOT satisfied
with it and turned back to mpeg 1, and has never went back to mpeg 2. I think
he swares by it - mpeg 1 that is, with xvcd or somthing. If you're listening,
please post your TMPGEnc settings here. I prefere using v12, but have all
the other versions, just in case.

Note, i'm dealing with captured avi's. Using DC10plus.
I capture Directv (RCA phono) IMO=s-video really makes
no difference, less you really close a replay the same scenes
over and ovre till you notice any tiny difference. It's just a
big over kill by people claiming that s-video is best quality.
    ITS JUST NOT TRUE!!!!! PERIOD!!!
I've tried it many times, and both signals produce same
quality output, period!!! This is from my Directv rec'vr and
my dvd playre. Just my honest opion (spelling). Ok, . . .
My last capture settings on the DC10 under Capture tab was:
    Quality : Custom
    Frame size : 320x480 [] Crop 'off
    Horizontal resolution : (o) Half
    Vertical fields : (o) Both
    Data rate for drive d : 1150Kbyte/sec
** Please note, my tested max rate rated at 6000k
but I stil drop frames like crazy.

The only way I can have the DC10 have it's own IRQ is to
disable my moden under device manager and reboot. No
conflics shows, but I'm wondering if this is false information
under device manager. Well, anyway. . .

Well, that's all for now. Thanks all !!

Same here, but if I CTRL-ALT-DEL and shut down
everything but Explorer (even Systray) I can capture
    without any frame loss.

Actually, I did some captures last night at 320x480
with 2000k, and only dropped 6 frames (can live with that).

Just wondering. . . Is it better to (after deleting all files), run
defrag, or just reformat the HD prior to capturing?
I have a 20g (for programs and windows)
and a 30g for captures only. So, I'm refereing to the 30g.
