  1. i've looked around and haven't been able to find out how to capture still frames from video, specifically mpeg, but divx or avi would be fine as well. i just want to capture lots of single frames to use later. someone on the board suggested snagit, so i downloaded it, and it doesn't work. i have eo video, virtualdub, and tmpeg. is there a way with any of these to capture still frames to a file format like jpeg, gif, or bmp?

  2. Open the mpeg in virtual dub. You can then either set a start and end point (if you want stills of sequential frames) and do a file...save image sequence, or you can do a video...copy frame to clipboard and then paste it in to Paint Shop Pro or wherever you choose.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. You can also play the video in Power DVD using its file mode playback. It has a button on the toolbar to do frame capture. It works for me!
