Since I had a small discussion with a good buddy of mine about how important it is to sit on a comfortable chair when working, I wondered:
On what do you sit when you use your PC?
Cu Selur
Ps.: I myself sit in a "Wagner Alumedic 10", not really cheap, but worth the money.

Your ass must be worth a lot. My entire wardrobe didn't cost that much.

I work the whole day sitting (or standing), so it's more a question of is my back worth the money.

I have a bad back. I damaged it when I was a kid. I won't bore you with a long story but I had no idea my back was out until I was well into my 30's (the migraines I used to get were caused by my back but I didn't know). Then the fun started.
I use an exercise ball as a chair. I won't say it's right for everybody, but what a difference for me..... I can sit for long periods without a back ache, and if I do it doesn't put my back out. I pretty much disliked the exercise ball idea when I first tried it. You don't feel relaxed because it's always moving a bit so you need to make an effort to keep it as still as possible..... initially. After a while you stop thinking about it. I guess it takes a little time for the muscles which hold you still to become accustomed to working. Once they are you no longer need to make a conscious effort not to roll away from the desk and you can just sit without thinking about it.
Unfortunately my exercise ball either sprung a leak or it's gradually lost too much air, so I switched back to a chair recently, but it won't be permanent. As soon as I remember where I put the pump..... -
Yes, the not moving can be a problem. That's what the 'dondola seat joint' in my chair is for. Never heard about it before buying the chair at the start of this year. At the beginning it really is strange to have a bit of a wobbly underground but like with a exercise ball you get used to it.
(also tried an exercise ball a while back, but it kind of got on my nerve to have the ball rolling around)users currently on my ignore list: deadrats, Stears555, marcorocchini -
The exercise ball did drive me a little nutty at first, but I got used to it. Now I occasionally lean over to grab something on the other desk, or move the chair back a bit etc, but don't quite manage it. I guess I need to wait for my brain to stop using the "ball rolling muscles" and go back to the "chair-on-casters" muscles, which I discovered, require more effort. The ball rolls fine on the carpet and never gets caught on the edge of the rug. And it doesn't have a backrest which, if I forget to move it, invariably sits in my TV-from-bed line of site. I wish the remote control could move a chair...

actaully, now that you brought up the subject... my left-side ass-cheek has been hurting me for some time now. a dull acke'y pain when i sit on it. i've been trying to eleviate it by setting mostly on my right side. but i don't want that side to inherit the symptom. i have no clue why my ass hurts now, other than to say that a) my chair is to blame, and b) i'm getting old.

Well, with all this talk about pains in the lower part of the anatomy, I almost couldn't resist.

I read a while ago somewhere, something to do with "ten most important computer peripherals/accessories" (or something like that), and one of them was to get yourself a good chair. Even though we can spend many hours at a time turfing our rear in front of the monitor, many of us take seating for granted.
I was about to buy a good chair as a result, but this person's office was moving and getting rid of chairs, so did them a favor and got a discount by buying a few of them.
When I have guests, of course, I use the executive looking one: black, leather (or is it vinyl?), big arms, adjustable, tall back.(But most know it's just me kidding around with an act.)
When no one's looking (don't tell anyone), I find more comfort in the black mesh slatted one. Real ergo. Ahhhh.

What do you sit on?
A regular office chair, similar to the one pictured above. -
I have a pretty old one too like the one above, I like to have the backrest nearly verticle, otherwise I start to get sore between my shoulder blades if I'm typing for a long time.

A common black armchair. I was bombarded with bad-back propaganda at an early age so I took care of myself since day one in that department. However, I have bad knees. I constantly sit with my feet on my armchair, effectively sitting with bent knees for hours and I ran track in high school so my knees are particularly messed up.

That sounds really disturbing.
