  1. Like some other folks I have read posts from, I am trying to get rid of these random (colored) horizontal lines in my captures. Other than these lines, the video looks pretty good.

I capture via my ATI TV Wonder using IUVCR at 640x480. The dropped frame count is 0. The lines do not show up in the preview window or when I am watching the video on the ATI TV tuner. However, they do show up in the resulting AVI file.

I have tried creating the SVCD with the deinterlace option checked and unchecked. Both settings yield the same result. They look the same whether I am playing them on the computer monitor or in my DVD player on my TV. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you talking about an occasional 'rainbow' effect that starts at the top of the screen and disappears towards the bottom? Are you capturing from NTSC video tape, perhaps a TV show that you edited the commercials out of? If so I can explain it, if not, I haven't seen it.

    Regards,

If you're talking about interlace lines, you can eliminate them fairly well, by using a filter in Virtualdub. (It's called deinterlace.) I noticed that Virtualdub does the best job of cleaning up interlace lines.

If they're being caused by something else, I'm lost.

  4. I am using MMC 7.1 and I used to get those lines, then I found out if
I run scandisc & defrag. before I capture,it improves the video.
Very strange but it works for me.

  5. I'm not sure if they are interlace lines or not. I have tried the "deinterlace" filters and they don't get rid of them. The lines are not there in the "preview" window or just watching the video on the computer. But, they are in the AVI capture and are there when I play the SVCD on my DVD player through the television (which is interlaced).

These horizontal lines are different lengths and colors, they move around and are in different places in every frame. Some frames have none but most frames have varying numbers of lines. I have been trying to get a screen capture to post but have not had much luck yet. I'll keep trying.

Have you tried hitting your computer?
