sample to test. 44mb is fine. looks like it's probably a variable frame rate issue.

    how do i fix that?
It shows in a rendered state in camtasia. Would variable frame rate not affect that?

Then it must be some kind of a reference shell to an actual video. The one you posted is basically empty.

Don't put it in vegas. Just post it plain as racer-x has requested.

FWIW, It appears the problem is likely your render settings.

  16. Sorry guys my mistake. I put it through vegas first which was what was causing the problem. Hold on

  17. I am trying to upload it now. Keeps hanging at sending request to forum.videohelp.com and uploading file please wait

  18. Ok it is uploaded now. Apologies for the blank one. That is what happens when i put it throgh vegas. There are jpegs and a music track on the project and they show after rendering. Hope this is ok. I can see video anyway
OK just checked it plays... sideways though. It is right way up in vegas preview but blank in render

    Thanks

My wife shoots the same way. I try to explain that video should always be shot horizontal, but you know how it is..........

You'll have to zoom and crop that if you want to fill the screen.

But i have nothing on the screen of the render. Should i not have the narrow upright shot if it works?

I rotated it with vlc and it is still blank output

I don't know, maybe you accidentally created a blank region and rendered it out? Post a screen shot of your Vegas timelines work area of your project.

  26. What is the best way/program to record the clips to .mp4 as they play on the pc?

Video shot with phone horizontal renders so must be the clips

  27. Dopey, even that vertical clip you posted rendered fine here (as it obviously has for others.) What are your output settings? Dimensions, frame rate, bitrate?

edit: When Vegas doesn't have a preset that to match your video settings it can default to an audio-only selection. I bet that's what's happening. Manually adjust it.

  29. I solved it by playing the phone clips in vlc on pc and recording with camtasia. The resultant MP4's loaded into Vegas will render in Vegas.
    Thanks guys for the suggestions
