Trying to add a printer and keep getting a message "the print spooler service is not running" really appreciate some help in solving this problem.

Need to know what os is used, printer make, model, how its connected and driver version installed.
If you have another user profile on the system log off from current account and log in via the other users account and see if this makes a change ... if not it generally rules out user profile corruption. -
In this case at least, the error message means what it says. If that service is stopped or disabled, then you can't even access the printer(s) you already have installed."the print spooler service is not running"
