The files are not broken or protected. Is there anything i can download and instal to stop this problem?

You're using codecs not supported by the software. (Why did you miss that one?) Use different software or convert the files to something else.

You could install MediaInfo, open a problem file with it, and post back what it tells you. We could see if there's anything highly unusual in it. Very few of our members use PowerDirector, so help will be limited. I don't like the program at all so it's rare for me to recommend it, but can you play one of these problem files using Windows Media Player? If not then it might be because as smrpix says you don't have the right codecs installed.
