I just bought the Sony BDP-S5200 3d bluray player. I don't have my 3dtv yet but I should have it Tuesday.

Does this or any Sony bluray player handle sbs material? Top-bottom or left-right, any doesn't matter.

Also I asked the guy at Bestbuy but he didn't know - Can you view 3d material off of youtube on this 3d bluray player?

I also have a wdtv live gen 3 I could hook up to it. Would that support sbs material?

    Fyi I bought the ps3 3d display. That's what I'll be using.

Yes I know it's only 24" but it's not my main tv. I just wanted real 3d and this was the ticket. Got it refurbed for 150.00 usd at newegg plus a 1 year warranty for 17.00 extra.

I also got a 18g hdmi cable for it. It wasn't a super monster cable or anything. And I got six bucks off by buying it with the player at the same time.

    So thanks for any info.

Edit - fyi I haven't opened the player up yet so I would be able to easily return it. If you have a model in mind at bestbuy that might be better than this I might consider it. 150.00 usd or so is about the tops I would be interested in spending.

And fyi it doesn't have to be sony, I'm just comfortable with it thats all.

I got my ps3 3d monitor the other day.

    it's great!

    It's small but great.

I found out the 3d mode does top to bottom or side to side sbs on the tv. I didn't know that.

So i can do all the sbs stuff on youtube just fine.

I really like it. I watched thor the dark world in 3d last night. It's great. I love the immersion. Even though it's not all encompassing since it's small and I don't have surround sound connected to this monitor it's still amazing.

I have definitely been enjoying it.

Hey, Glad that worked out for you. I got a Samsung about 9 months ago, it came 3d, but I picked it out for different reasons like refresh rate and hertz. I really had no intention of watching 3d on it. I just thought 3d was gimmikcy, but I was a little biased since I remember the old movies in the movie theater were mostly toward the end things would jump out at you. Also, I had watched a movie in 3d when they first came out again, and wasn't all that impressed (I think it must have been a 2d conversion)

Anyway I ended up picking up Avengers in 3d and I was really impressed with it. It almost felt like watching the movie again for the first time. I plan to try other movies now. To me, it felt like it added a lot of depth to the movie.

Just curious, but what is sbs material? (Just guessing here standard broadcast something?)

@tearren sbs is side by side. Either left right or top bottom.

Search YouTube for trailers with SBS in the name and you'll get the 3d trailers. Just leave your set to 3d auto and it will do it.

I watched Thor 2 in 3d and it was great.

Also got 3d universe history show. Frickin awesome.
