For editing what kind of video from what source? Chances are most of us use more than one, the choice depending on the video format, the type of file and the source.

I only edit MPEG-2 video, and even so I use more than one editor, VideoReDo Plus for captures from my TV tuner card or MPEG-VCR for recordings made by my DVD recorder.

Yes that list is way too restrictive. Lot's of good editors not on that wimpy list.

    VirtualDub and VD Mod, AVIDemux.

I'm glad a lot of us still use freeware editors.

I've been using Premiere since 5.0 was new. Now CS5 is old!

But I use CS4 here. It works fine, does what I need.

But it's only used for serious editing work, not basic cutting tasks.
For that, I have Womble, TMPGEnc SR4, and VirtualDub.

Using Premiere Pro CS6 and CC and After Effects CS6 and CC for serious work. In case I can no longer pay for CC I have CS6 to fall back on.
For personal projects I use PowerDirector 12, VideoStudio X7, Womble, TMPGEnc Video Master Works 5 and Pinnacle Studio 17.

  12. When I started I was using Vegas but realized that for the type of editing I was doing it was overkill. I mostly to cut, join and fade type editing. My editor for a few years now has been MPEG Video Wizard DVD. And TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 to create a final disk, and maybe do ultra simple cutting.
Anything more required and I use Virtualdub and for any audio fixes I use Audacity.

I use Vegas for most things, unless I know of a specific task that'd be better handled with another tool. Like if I'm just trying to clip a segment out of a bigger mpeg2 file, I'll use Videoredo. But Vegas is my go-to for all video production.

None of the above here. Who came up with that list?

I mostly use ubuntu but the selection of video editors in linux is much better than I expected.

I use avidemux or openshot mostly but I'm starting to get into kdenlive.

LightWorks and shotcut work great in Linux. LightWorks is the most advanced, but the free version limits output to 720p.mp4.

Better a hot chic in tattered chlothes than an ugly one in a designer dress.

Can you imagine what a "roofer gal" might look like? I'm picturing Ellie May's outfit on Granny's body.

May be I will also give it a try in some near future, if time permits.
