    If at all any one who reads this is experienced in embedded systems can advise how to apply the same hack to unlock a sony BDP-S5100 (other mediatek based players) to play PAL DVDs

    It probably won't work. We've never had any reports of a USB based hack for ANY Sony player anywhere in the world. Usually Sony players can't ever be unlocked unless you bought them in New Zealand or Australia and even then it's not common. You live in Uganda, which is not New Zealand or Australia, so ...
