Burned latest version of NERO at work on CD, came home and updated my NERO. Now when I try to start NERO the computer hangs up and I have to reboot with power sw! Is there a problem with NERO or just a bad burn?
I installed ver. 5.5.8.0, I have MPEG2 installed.

Sounds like it detected a "pirate" install and locked your computer!
To fool this "feature" in the new NERO, you have to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL the old NERO, then re-install the new (there seems to be a problem with the ungrade program for 5.5.8.0). -
Reinstalled all Nero versions up to latest , still hangs!
Will try Ahead web site for help.

If you have 5.5.7.8, then completely uninstall it & reinstall the 5.5.8.0 with the same s/n, everything gonna be fine. I tried the older version(5.5.7.2...) and got the same problem. It seems only the 5.5.7.8 user can get the full upgrade instead of the demo version.

I download the new 5.5.8.0 Nero version to upgrade from my current 5.5.7.8 version. Nero came bundled with my Micron PC and it has allowed me to upgrade for free so far. However the new 5.5.8.0 version never loads properly in Windows XP. Tried 4 times after turning pc off to reboot each time. Finally I downgraded to 5.5.7.8 and it loads fine but I have not burned anything yet since this attempted upgrade. What is strange is that the new dvd video option appears now just like it should in the new 5.5.8.0 version, I never had the dvd video option before using 5.5.7.8. It is like it kept the functionality of the upgrade but help dropdown tells me it is 5.5.7.8 version, weird. I have a pioneer dvr-103 burner.

i upgraded from 5.5.7.8 to 8.0, running XP and mine works fine! dont let more than one version pass you by, i always check for ups to the recent one and upgrades are never a problem. peaceout

Thanks for responses, found problem fix on Ahead web site. Problem must have been caused by loaded drivers for other cd burners I use. i guess Nero doesn't like any compition ! Nero ver 8 works ok now.
I uninstalled everythin I could find about other CD decks and burners. I may have to re-install some later.
