Hello,
I am a developer. I was wondering if you would be interested in a one button automatic video editing service. What you will do is upload your video on a cloud platform, and algorithms will automatically edit your videos to create interesting content for you. The key here is that this is not a tradition video editing software, and the UI will be minimal from one button to only selecting the music and videos.
The assumption I have is that the current video editing software is too much hassle for everyone. Let me know if I am wrong or right! Thx

Something like Magisto?
The main problem(s) with that is the human editor is removed from the equation, so the result will always appear "canned". Also, much of the personal satisfaction and accomplishment is removed.
It's a way of "getting" without "doing". Like fake boobs. Typical of today's pop culture built upon bling. Video production isn't a commodity, it's an art.Last edited by budwzr; 23rd Apr 2014 at 09:54.

Thank you for letting me know that people are aware of Magistro, but as you said, with the human element of the editing removed, the video production of the output cannot really compete with editing that is done by humans. However, I do think there still exist the problem in that people are going to take more and more video, but the existing solution to manage and organize those videos are going to be a problem. I guess I need to figure out the separation between mundane part and rewarding part of editing and help people automate the mundane part. So this way they can spend more time on the creative side of editing.

This appears to be a commercial project and for advertising that you need administrator permission.
But for now, moving this to our Off Topic Forum.

How could you possibly know what someone wants to achieve with their edit? Whose definition of "interesting" are you using? What are the priorities in the deciding algorithms? Clearly you are avoiding "professional" work (as evidenced by the kinds of choices given in your "form"), but there are a positively pervasive panoply of presentations that consumers would still want to have available to them.
Also, why do you think editing is a hassle for everyone? Do you not think that "uploading" to a cloud for hours on end a hassle, too?
Managing & Organizing is very different from Editing. I might pay for a service that used object recognition to categorize the clips, and created a cross-referenced feature-rich database on-the-sly. But then, I wouldn't want the files to remain in the cloud to do any editing there, I'd just want the database info (linked to my original, local assets).
But even then, there are quality rankings and other elements to a shot that might need to be custom-tagged, and that can't be done automatically.
Good luck with your project, but I'm afraid my contribution would just be a (very?) critical (as in critique or criticize) one.
As a pro, I find this insulting, and as a consumer, I find this insulting. What's left?

I think the OP is looking at the camera phone market, and that's loaded with people trying to get an easy leg up without having to actually do or learn anything.

That was HILARIOUS!
(and the preproduction on that would have to have been exacting - bravo)
Thanks,

Hahaha, I wonder how many Apple users tried to find that online.

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get notification on any of the comments for some reason.
@Scott Talking with more people about this topic, indeed people want the human touch on editing and don't really want full service. Thank you for your great comments.
If I was going to launch this service, where do you think would be the best place to reach videographers such as you?
