    - solved - see post # 11, way below.

    using opera browser.

    i've gone and updated the flash several times now, but still receiving the same message. not sure what else to do.

    i don't understand why i can't see the videos. some videos show and some don't. it is just snow on the screen, with the message below.

    The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback.
    Get the latest Flash Player

  2. It's been the case in the past that older versions of flash player would leave little bits and pieces pieces behind that prevent newer versions from loading. Adobe has a flash removal tool on their website that will allow you to completely uninstall before installing the new one. It's helped me a couple of times over the years.

    regarding the link http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

    i don't see anywhere where it says to re-download and reinstall flash. if i use the uninstaller, i won't have flash anymore until its monthly reminder pops up during boot up.

    And for the ones who are pretty sure the new versions are overbloated and useless ,

    still not able to play some videos. the pat benatar won't play. its snow, with the same message i stated in post # 1.

    also, now my swf video player won't play. something i coded up in delphi to play .swf files. it gives me a message about "Exception EOleSysError" in my app. but it used to work fine. the flash uninstaller must have uninstalled something that it needs.

    so now i have two problems.

    i resolved the EOleSysError message. i had to re-register the flash.ocx file.

    so i went back to the http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html?PID=5412144 and it reports that flash either not installed or enabled. i know it is installed. i installed it. next, i went to the section, "4. Enable Flash Player in your browser" and enabled it for opera, but same problem, will not play all videos.

    PERHAPS your problem has something to do with "bad" cookies

    As for the .OCX file --- that's for Internet Explorer only, AFAIK

    I've been having problem with Google images not loading and YouTube video (thumbnails) not loading. More noticeable in Firefox than Chrome. I also see the gray, static flash player message.....but only for a brief portion of a second before the video starts......on every video.

    -- solved -- by installing the very latest opera version.

    i tried to update from v12.12 to v12.17 multiple times but opera would just not update. then i decided to download the v20.0 and it successfully installed, although it installed in the Opera main folder, it created a sub-folder under that, "20.0.1387.91" and installed there. then i went to the youtube videos i could not see before, and all were now visible, including the pat penatar.
