  1. The problem I'm having is a single video file I recorded is becoming Desynched after throwing it thru any video editor that can actually read the original video file.
The original video file is a .ts file (using MPEG-derivative codec) which I use VSDC Free Video Converter to covert to .avi/.mpeg/.mp4. (The VSDC program seems to be the only one that can open up and read the video file aside from Media Player Classic) VirtualDubMod refuses to open it due to it supposibly not an MPEG-compliant codec, even though MPC claims the video its decoding is MPEG). And Windows Live Movie Maker can open it, but can't read the video segments.
Anyways when I convert the files, either as a single 3~4 hour long file, or segment it into various sections, The beginning and end of the files is okay, no lip synch issues, but the middle segments, the audio can be 5+ seconds off.

  2. It's a MPEG2 transport stream , but what is the video codec ? Use mediainfo (view=>text) . You can copy & paste the results back here

What is the source? Often transport streams have discontinunities, other stream errors when capped or trasmitted (sat, cable) . Sometimes you can repair them with projectx, tsdoctor

Other free programs that should be able to open the original , and edit or convert it include avidemux, aviutl, vdub with the ffinputdriver
