  1. Hi,

Ive got a Pioneer DVR_A04, and have been trying to run it on my windows xp professional machine.

It recognises the drive as a normal cd rom drive (eg if i put a cd in there i can 'explore' it in 'My Computer') but none of the CR-R or DVD-R(W) progs recognise the drive (eg Instant CD/DVD says "A Destination Drive could not be found")

I think this might be an XP problem, as it has caused problems with hardware before (and ive only had the whole thing a week and a half !!) with its "electronic signature" thinggy. Also i have experienced an identical problem with the Dell CD-R(W) bundled with my PC, it says (Roxio Easy CD cant find it!). I dont know what type/make of CD-R(W) it is, but the code for it is "LITE-ON LTR-24102M".

Please tell me what you think might be wrong and how to fix it.

    Many thanks,

    Chris

  2. What CD/DVD burning programs do you have installed? I know that installing Roxio  along with some other S/Ws can cause problems in XP.

  3. Hi,

    Thanks for replying,

At the moment, I have Roxio (came with the dell CD-r(w) pre installed on the computer), Instant CD/DVD and MyDVD (both came with the Pioneer DVD-r(w). None recognise the CD-R or CD-RW capabilities of either drive. I havent tried the DVD Writer with DVD-Rs because at £10 (about US $ 7) for each DVD-R its a bit expensive when theres minimal chance of it working.

    Many Thanks,

    Chris

  4. Instant CD/DVD may not play well with Roxio Installed. I know some Burning S/W like Nero and Roxio together on one system will cause an issue. I have never used Instant CD/DVD but I do have a system with Roxio and Mydvd installed and have never had an issue. Also, I would make sure you have Roxio 5.10 or greater installed if you want Data DVD
write support and I would remove DirectCD if possible. It's a real resource hog.
